Chakwera fires Lobin Lowe, hires Sam Kawale as new Agriculture Minister

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera on Tuesday evening, October 25, 2022 fired Lobin Lowe as Agriculture Minister following numerous scandals at the ministry.

The President also Deputy agriculture Minister Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima owing to what he calls serious problems that have rocked the Affordable Input Program this year.

Chakwera says a litany of bad decision about the program smack of high incompetence and gross negligence.

The Malawi leader observes that the contract which the Ministry went into with a British company which has allegedly duped government of way over MK750 million is unacceptable.

Chakwera says an instituted investigation shows that the Ministry paid sums of money to two different bank accounts in different countries

Chakwera has therefore appointed Sam Kawale as new Agriculture Minister continue his good work started as Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP) chairperson.

The president however warns that a new cabinet will be announced soon to inspire his agenda.
