Chakwera to fly off to Europe for AU-EU summit

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Ministry of Foreign Affairs says, President Lazarus Chakwera will soon fly off to Europe where he will attend the 6th European Union- Africa Union (EU-AU) Summit which will be held Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium from February 17 to February 18, 2022.

In a statement, the Ministry says, Chakwera’s participation in the summit has been made possible by funding from Malawi’s partners.

In the summit Chakwera will use his time to lobby for support towards relief efforts to mitigate devastating effects of Tropical Storm Ana and for greater collaboration between the EU and SADC in addressing climate change and green energy transformation, peace and security, agricultural sustainability, development financing, trade, digital connectivity and transport, education and health.

A week ago, Chakwera was in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where he was attending the 35th Ordination Session of the Assembly of the African Union.
