A Non-Governmental organization,Charis Invest and Consult has equipped over 70 pastors from central region with skills on how they can utilize available resources to make money and be self reliant than depending on donors and church offerings.
The one day seminar was recently conducted at crown hotel in Lilongwe under the theme;”Kingdom Wisdom”.
Speaking in an interview Charis Invest and Consult Founder, Chifuniro Kandaya said the idea to bring Pastors together came after observing that some pastors have no other sources of income than depending on church members and donations.
Kandaya said it is very pathetic to note that pastors do struggle financially yet they are located in areas that are rich of resources like fertile soil and abundant water.
“We wanted to equip them with what is called tent making skills in theology. As Paul was making tents to fundraise for his ministry, the local churches can also be working to support their missionary activities. Thus local churches can be self reliant than rely on donations”, he said.
He also said the economy of the country can grow if church leaders are engaged in different activities to generate money.
Kandaya added” over 80% of Malawians profess Christian faith. If we are to change Malawi, it has to begin with the church. It is the church that has to spearhead not only spiritual revival but also economic revolution”.
Concurring with Kandaya, senior chief state advocate in the ministry of Justice, Pacharo Kaira who was one of the speakers said finances are the one area that causes sleepless nights to men of God and that many church projects have failed due to lack of funds.
Kaira then taught 16 keys to financial dominion, among others encouraging men of God to keep on trusting God and that he will provide their needs.
Guest speaker from international Christian Centre in USA, Pastor Joseph Muyangata said there is wisdom that the church needs to have that is ordained for her glory even in the area of finances.
Charis Invest and Consult is a social Enterprise Organization which exists to help individuals, communities and institutions convert dormant resources into economic opportunities.
