LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima’s political silence is contributing to his party UTM’s members resignation and defection to other parties.
Chilima’s silence has made UTM members to be inactive clear demonstration that the party is distancing itself from its supporters.
Signs are all over that Malawians have lost trust in the UTM Party and its leadership.
This is despite UTM promised its supporters during the campaign trails but only lies.

One of the UTM founders of Kuwala Youth Network Secretary, Rasool Jackson has become the latest member to tender his resignation letter from the party with immediate effect.
The first one to throw a towel was Kalindo aka Winiko who resigned from his position as National UTM Director of Youth.
In a letter dated March 15, 2022 addressed to UTMs Secretary General, Patricia Kaliati, says Jackson as party member who advances message of change, hope for Malawi wokomela tonse.
Jackson feels pity for what is happening in the country now.
Jackson observes that life has become too tough to Malawians due to current ill-economic situation the country is sailing through where prices of essential goods like cooking oil, sugar, bread, soap are being hiked on daily basis.
“I, therefore, tender my resignation both as UTMs Kuwala Youth Network Secretary and member of UTM with immediate effect,’’ reads Jackson’s letter.
He has wished the party’s leadership well asking Chilima “To remember that it is the people that put him where he is today and one day he shall have a say, he will need them most”.
Jackson adds; “The public will be informed on his next political journey but for the meantime, he will concentrate much on his personal errands”.
Social media commentators have described UTM members’ resignations as signs that the party is going to the natural death.
The commentators adds that members resignations, defections are a litmus test for the party’s president, Chilima that in the 2025 elections.
Malawians will not be fooled for the second time that the one who is on the bicycle carrier bag cannot ring the bell.
