Chirambo confident Hammers will survive Super League despite struggles

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Mzuzu City Hammers head coach, Elias Chirambo, has expressed strong optimism that his side will not be relegated from the TNM Super League, despite enduring a difficult start to the campaign.

Chirambo made the remarks on Thursday after his team suffered a 2-0 defeat to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in a match played at Rumphi Stadium.

The loss added to the team’s growing list of setbacks, but the coach insists the Hammers still have what it takes to remain in the elite league.

“We are in the process of building a strong side. Victories may be hard to come by at the moment, but we are determined to keep fighting,” Chirambo said.

“Our aim is to occupy a respectable position on the table and eventually start picking wins,” he told reporters.

He further warned rival teams to be cautious, stressing that once the Hammers find their rhythm, they will become a difficult side to beat.

Currently, the northern region outfit sits second from the bottom of the 16-team log with only eight points from 13 matches.

Since the start of the league, they have managed two wins, two draws, and eight defeats, leaving them in a precarious position.

However, Chirambo remains hopeful that with persistence and hard work, the team will avoid the drop and use this season as a foundation for long-term stability in the Super League.

The first round of the TNM Super League is expected to conclude on August 10, 2025.
