Ntchisi residents marching to the DC’s office

Community members in Ntchisi are today holding demonstrations in a bid to demand an instant transfer of the District Commissioner for Ntchisi, Peter Jimusole, and other senior officials; whom they allege of indulging in double dealings.

According to a petition the members have issued to the Council, the DC and the other senior officials have been given an ultimatum of a week to vacate their office since their performance does not satisfy the community members as the DC allegedly offers contracts to those who are corruptly connected to him.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Local Government has advised the DC to temporarily hand over his office to a Dr Zondwayo Ng’oma, one of the officials at the Council, so he can go for a 14 day annual leave as the matter is being resolved.

At the time this story was being published, Mr Jimusole or the Council’s Public Relations Officer were not readily available for a comment.

In 2018, the community members also took to the street against Mr Jimusole when he was the Director of Development and Planning at the Council as they suspected him of being involved in corrupt dealings at the expense of the district’s development projects.
