MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-The newly appointed Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Northern regional governor Christopher Mzomera Ngwira is demanding resignation of CCAP Livingstonia Synod leadership for openly endorsing UTM Party and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) electoral alliance ahead of fresh presidential elections.

Ngwira specifically wants the synod’s General secretary and moderator Reverend Levi Nyondo and Douglas Chipofya respectively to step down for failing the church with partisan politics.

The DPP Northern region Governor told the news conference in Mzuzu this week that the duo misleading and abusing the privilege of the synod

Ngwira observed that the two spiritual leaders action are putting the church’s into disrepute.

“Reading from what Reverends Nyondo and Chipofya do, many followers are cried foul. The two spiritual leaders are missing a point and have brought shame and embarrassment to the church because they divide the members,” charged Ngwira.

In his response, Nyondo accused Ngwira of ignorance of the church protocol that he does not have powers to speak for the church and that the duo could not resign.

Malawi is expected to hold fresh presidential elections following Constitutional Court (ConCourt) nullification of May 21, 2019 polls.
