A defeat this afternoon to Rumphi United FC, they will be confirmed out of the TNM Superleague league since even if they can win their remaining 4 games their points will not surpass 25 points of Red Lions who are on position 13 who have played 25 games.
If they win against Blue Eagles FC, they will take their tally to 13 points and will be praying that Red Lions FC loses all their remaining games.
The team need to score more goals in their games to finish with 25 points which seems to be a toll order taking into consideration of their form so far.
Leader of Eagles in the field of play Schumacher Kuwali has vowed to do better this afternoon and collect maximum points over struggling Leopards.
“We are prepared for the game and I am sure by the end of the day we will be victors. Our target is to collect maximum 6 points from the north hence the battle starts with this afternoon’s game.
The morale is very high in the camp and I am optimistic Blue Eagles FC will win the league. We have not yet surrendered”, Kuwali said.
However Coach Eliah Kananji has warned his charges against complacency saying playing relegation battling teams is dangerous sometimes as they come flat out considering that they have nothing to lose.
Kananji concurred with his captain Kuwali that they will be returning to the central region with maximum points while acknowledging won’t be easy.
He added the call by management that if they finish in top four they will play in CAF league has motivated them hence engaging an extra gear.
If they manage to win against Rumphi United FC this afternoon and on Sunday against another tricky side Ekwendeni Hammers FC will take their tally to 52 points.
The team will retain their position 2 and reduce the gap with the defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets FC.
Assistant Coach for Rumphi United FC Jimmy Butao has warned Blue Eagles FC against underrating them saying they can pull a surprise.
He said his charges played well against Moyale Barracks FC only that they failed to utilize chances they got.
Butao is however, optimistic of surviving the chop. Rumphi United FC and Blue Eagles FC have met twice one in cup game FDH Bank where Blue Eagles won by 0-2 at Rumphi Stadium and in the TNM Super League league first round where the Eagles won 2-0 at Nankhaka Stadium.
Rumphi United FC are playing for the first time in the elite league after they got promoted from SIMSO Northern Region Football Association League alongside Sable Farming FC from Southern Region League Thumbs Up who are also battling for their life in the league.
