The Embattled Chairperson of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), Annabel Mtalimanja, has reassured residents of Salima District that the absence of a voter registration centre in Mchepa area will not affect the voter registration process in the district.

Speaking to Times 360 Malawi during a visit to the registration centres in Salima, Mtalimanja explained that while the Mchepa centre was initially included in MEC’s registration plan, unforeseen challenges led to its exclusion from the final list of approved centres.

“We have encouraged residents of Mchepa and surrounding areas to register at the nearest available centres,” said Mtalimanja.

She further urged political parties to send their representatives to all registration centres to ensure transparency in the registration process, promoting fairness and accountability throughout the exercise.
