BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-For the last three days, journalists from various media houses in Malawi’s Southern region have been gathering at crossroads hotel in Blantyre for EU funded project training.
The training was organised with the aim of building capacity of the media in governance and agricultural sector.
The training attracted about 130 journalist in southern region from various media houses.
In an interview the team Leader for the project Dr Theresa Davies, she expressed her warm-hearted gratitude for all the journalist who attended the training and all other delegates who graced the function and made presentations in various topics.
She has promised to fund individual journalist who have projects that requires investigations and those who wants to join “Support parliament and media to strengthen governance in agriculture sector” project.
Kingsley Sowa, one of the journalist who attended the training has explained how the training has sharpened his skills in investigative reporting.
Sowa pointed out lack of enough support as one of the challenges that limit most media houses from covering investigative stories in-depth.
He has however sworn to use the knowledge obtained to improve his reporting skills.
“Now that I have been through this training, I will make sure that once I go back to my media house I utilize the knowledge that I have gaining through this training,” he said.
