LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Police Service on Sunday, March 15, 2026 arrested former Director General of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services, Brigadier Charles Kalumo (Retired), on allegations of abuse of office and failure to comply with the Immigration Act.
National Police spokesperson Lael Chimtembo told The Maravi Post that Kalumo was arrested on Sunday afternoon at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) upon arrival from South Africa.
Chimtembo disclosed that the alleged offence dates back to June 2023 when Kalumo was serving as Director General of Immigration.
Kalumo, 74, hails from Kadzakalowa Village under Traditional Authority Njolomole in Ntcheu District.
The law enforcers however indicated tgat that further details on the matter will be released in due course.
