Former opposition DPP North Regional Governor Mzomera Ngwira transferred to Mzuzu Prison on medical grounds

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Former opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regional governor for the north Christopher Mzomera Ngwira has finally been transferred from Mzimba Prison to Mzuzu Prison.

Ngwira is serving a four-year jail term at Mzimba Prison after being convicted of mismanaging Local Development Fund allocations when he served as Member of Parliament for Mzimba Hora Constituency.

Mzuzu Prison spokesperson MacBeth Wasambo has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Wasambo, Ngwira asked them to send him where he would be close to Mzuzu Central Hospital.

Ngwira’s lawyer has also confirmed of the transfer.
