The increase in MEDEF loan from MWK 15 Billion to MWK 40 Billion is commendable if and only there is a paradigm shift as regards to management of the financial instrument.

MEDEF loan is copy and paste from the previous regime and its successful implementation will hinge on drawing lessons from previous Government.

The paper work of MEDEF loan has always been sugar-coated and only to be greeted by shambolic unproductive loan disbursement and recovery.

The present Regine has to draw a lesson as to what went wrong during prior period for the financial facility to precipatate into irrecoverable toxic loans.

Obviously , unproductive Political party zealots got their rewards from the financial facility hence complacent in loan repayment.

If unchecked , MEDEF loan curse will continue haunting the nation because Political party supporters equally claim stakes in each and every Regime.

When properly mplemented MEDEF loan could form a Genesis for creation of business and employment opportunities…. the journey towards creation of 1,000,000 ( one Million) jobs called commerce here.

It is only good management that will translate MEDEF loan into a tool for demographic divided concept through which the youth and women will have to be engaged for social and economic development….. Malawians of Asian origin could provide a testimony on demographic divided concept as they have unconsciously and successfully implemented the same amidst us.

MEDEF loan could equally be used to resuscitate businesses which have been severely hit by Covid – 19 Pandemic hence saying further employment losses in the process.

For instance , the tourism industry and Private academic institutions could qualify for financial bailout just to mention afew …. A bird at hand is worthier than a bird in the bush .

Creation of 1,000,000 jobs was earmarked for one year and it is premature to call it a broken promise hence a plea to have MEDEF loan invested productively if such dream is to be realised .

MMD’s response to the provinsional budget has been based on facts and relevant prevailing statutes an will be glad to receive counter arguments basing on the same …. Castigation and hatred have never been of value addition to the national cause .

We are wishing the current Regime well as it embarks on the journey towards implementation of the electroral Manifesto.

We are solely to provide checks and balances as opposed to the deemed frustration off your financial blueprint.

Kind regards and stay blessed.

PETER DSD KUWANI – MMD National President.
