In a groundbreaking initiative, twin brothers Praise and Patience Phiri of Quantum Resolve Technologies have developed a revolutionary platform called “Silent Shield” aimed at empowering survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) to report their ordeals safely and anonymously.
The platform, which is available in both English and Chichewa languages, provides a secure and accessible way for victims of abuse to report cases without fear of stigma or reprisal.
According to Praise Phiri, the brothers were motivated to develop the platform after realizing that many victims of GBV are suffering in silence due to fear or lack of support.

“We believe technology must not only protect but also empower,” Phiri said, adding that ,”This silent shield exists to give every Malawian a voice, especially those who fear the stigma and risks of reporting GBV.”
The Silent Shield platform is designed to provide a safe and confidential space for survivors to report their experiences, and the developers plan to further enhance the platform by introducing a linked digital therapy support system.
This system will enable survivors to access counseling services, safe spaces, and referrals through the same platform.
Praise Phiri has called on the government, non-state actors, and telecommunication companies to support their initiative, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in addressing GBV.
With the Silent Shield platform, Quantum Resolve Technologies is poised to make a significant impact in the fight against GBV in Malawi, providing a vital lifeline to those who need it most.
