The Party of Former President Joyce Banda, Peoples’ Party (PP) has rubbished the news circulating in the country that the Malawian-South Africa based prophet Shepherd Bushiri is planning to stand as President in 2019 general elections.
According to the PP acting vice President Kamlepo Kaluwa who is also the Rumphi east law maker, Shepherd Bushiri has no ambition for such a position as he is a man of God.
Kamlepo also distance his party from the claims that the Malawian billionaire is the major financier of Joyce Banda’s Peoples Party.
“I know Bushiri as a true seer; in fact, he is my prophet. He loves this country but he doesn’t have that ambition,” said Kaluwa.
“His aim is to help Malawians in terms of food and others, so to for someone to say that he is vying for the President on 2019 general elections then it is wrong,” he claimed.
According to him, those are spreading such kind of news are those want to turn his relationship with the current President.
“Those are saying that just want to deceive the President Peter Mutharika. They are money hunters, so they know if they deceive Mutharika they will gain something,” he lamented.
Bushiri has also been denying the allegation saying “taking the President position means demotion especially when compared to my current position of prophet.”
He said his church has membership from all walks of life and different political affiliations including the PP, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), United Democratic Front (UDF) as well as Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
