LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-On Tuesday youth across the country have gathered at Crossroads hotel in the capital Lilongwe for a second climate change under the theme of of enhancing youth leadership and movement in tracking climate change in Malawi.
Deputy director of Environmental Affairs Micheal Mokonombera challenged youths in the ongoing conference to be part of agents of change in addressing effects of climate change.
Makonombera said participants must make use of presentations during the conference which will sharpen them on capacity building , negotiation skills and issues of finances to support the initiative.
” As the government we are capable to link up with other stake holders and development partners and this will be our top agenda in our management to discuss ways on how to support the youths to find solutions to the challenges presented,” he said.
He also said that youth’s have to wake up and be able to play a role on how to protect the environment and also the developments in the country.
Based on last year’s conference they introduced some programs include the adapt plan which they are introducing it in Ntcheu, Nkhatabay and Zomba and also Climate proofing Machinga and Mangochi were the youths are playing a big role.
Under the theme; “Enhancing Youth Leadership and Movement in Tracking Climate Change in Malawi”, the conference runs from September 24-26, 2019
