Malawi court slaps lawyer Bob Chimkango for traffic offences

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Limbe Midima Magistrate Court on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 fined lawyer Bob Chimkango a total of MK40,000 for two traffic offenses.

First Grade Magistrate Lameck Mkwapatira, who presided over the case where Chimkango pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a signal to stop at a roadblock and drink and drive.

Limbe Police Station Prosecutor Lloyd Magwenje presented the case against Chimkango.

After considering the evidence, the magistrate found Chimkango guilty and imposed the fine.

Chimkango was fined K25,000 for failing to comply with a signal to stop at a roadblock, which is an offense under section 39(3) of the Police Act. This offense is taken seriously by the courts, as it can pose a significant risk to road safety.

In addition to the fine for failing to stop at a roadblock, Chimkango was also fined K15,000 for drink and drive, an offense under section 128 of the Traffic Act.

Drink driving is a serious offense that can have devastating consequences, and the courts take it very seriously.

By imposing a fine, the court is emphasizing the importance of responsible driving behavior.

The total fine of K40,000 imposed on Chimkango is a significant penalty for his offenses.
