LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-In a course of removing street kids, government in collaboration with One step foundation is looking for MK38.8 million to sponsor 212 Street kids to go back to school.
Minister of Gender Patricia Kaliati made the plea on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in the August house.
Kaliati told The Maravi Post that government is set to mobilise funds through Street begging as they are suppose to be posing street kids in various parts of the roads under One stop foundation post.
She said the program has managed to enroll 6,000 children to various schools including colleges.
The minister of gender has stressed the need to strengthen laws by embarking by arresting pub owners who will entertain harboring children in their clubs.
Kaliati said her Ministry intends to work hand in hand with the Ministry of Justice as they have been mandated to fine 14 years in prison those that will be found entertaining the children.
The minister has since commended the first lady Monica Chakwera for being in connection with the street children from the way back even before she became the first lady.
One step foundation led by it’s founder and Executive Director Moses Malabo is helping Street connected children who have been withdrawn from the street life.
