Malawi High Commission in Kenya warns of scam recruitment drive

NAIROBI-(MaraviPost)-The High Commission of Malawi in Kenya has issued a warning to the public about a fake job recruitment drive circulating on social media, claiming to offer positions at the mission.

According to High Commissioner Calista Chimombo, the mission is not conducting any staff recruitment exercise and has not advertised any positions through any media platform.

“The mission has noted with concern that there is a vacancy announcement and call for applications for positions at the Mission that is circulating on social media and purported to be from the Mission,” she said.

Chimombo clarified that placement, recruitment, and appointment of staff for diplomatic positions in all Malawi High Commissions and Embassies are done by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Malawi.

The public is advised to be cautious of fraudulent activities and not to respond to the fake job advertisement.

The High Commission assures that it will only communicate official job vacancies through its official channels.

This warning comes amid a rise in fake job scams targeting job seekers in the region.

Recently, the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) have also issued warnings about similar scams.

The Malawi High Commission in Kenya urges anyone who may have responded to the fake job advertisement to report the incident to the relevant authorities.
