Malawi police arrest Asian businessman Zameer Karim over food ration saga

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Police in Blantyre on Friday, morning November 13, 2020 arrested controversial Asian businessman Zameer Karim.

Karim is currently at the Blantyre police in hands of authorities with his lawyers.

Sources told the Maravi Post that he has been arrested in connection to MK2.7 billion Malawi Police food rations deal.

The Asian businessman is believed to have overpriced the food supplies with an aim to defraud the government.

Zameer was first arrested in December, 2018 by the Anti-corruption bureau.

He has been on bail since 2018. He was closely linked to former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) senior officials including former president Peter Mutharika.
