Malawi wins first leg of CHAN qualifier

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )-In a thrilling encounter at the Bingu National Stadium(BNS ) in Lilongwe on Saturday, Malawi national football team,the Flames secured a hard-fought victory over South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in the first leg of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.

The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities.

However, it was Malawi that made the breakthrough, courtesy of Zeliat Nkhoma’s impressive header in the 88th minute.

The goal came from a well-executed corner kick delivered by Wisdom Mpinganjira.

After the match, Coach Kalisto Pasuwa commended his team for their determination and outstanding performance.

He expressed confidence that the Flames will build on this momentum in the return leg and secure a spot in the CHAN finals.

The second leg is scheduled to take place in South Africa on May 11, 2025.

The winner of the tie will advance to the CHAN finals, featuring the top 16 teams in the competition.
