LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-As the nation awaits for Presidential final results barely two days after polling, there should esssence of patience on how Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is handling the elections.

The electoral laws mandates the commission to release results by following procedures to tame post electoral legal battles.

Due to both manual and electronic votes transmission processes, the public must therefore be patient enough as only eight days mandates MEC to release results.

The public must understand the electoral process

Therefore, this is the results management process being implemented by the MEC, adhering to the legal provisions set out in th MEC Act and the 2023 Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Elections Act.

According to MEC, this guarantees that every step taken is grounded in national law and electoral integrity, a Digital Trail that Enhances Auditability. Election Management Devices (EMDs) do not replace manual voting or manual vote counting.

MEC says it is adopting a hybrid transmission approach that combines the manual delivery of physical result sheets with the electronic transmission of scanned copies and digital results data to the MEC’s central server.

This dual method allows for cross-verification, strengthening the integrity, transparency, and reliability of the election results.
