MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Health workers in Mzuzu are continuing with their sit in despite Malawi government issuing a circular of their revised allowances.

Upon a visit to Mzuzu Central Hospital and Mapale health center in the city found health workers just chanting whilst carrying placards with messages expressing displeasure with how government is ignoring their concerns.

Dickson Mwenitete leader of the demonstrating health workers at Mzuzu Central hospital told journalists that their return to work is dependent on government issuing an official communication of addressing all their concerns.

Meanwhile, people seeking health services are being forced to get the same from private health facilities.

The whole thing came in due the Covid-19 pandemic where other departments are receiving huge money whilst the hospital only MK60,000.00 per day as a risk allowance.

As of April 21, 2020, Malawi had 18 cases of Covid-19 with two deaths.
