MCP primary elections: councillor Esther Amina Sagawa wins in Lilongwe City Chipala-Nafisi

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) primary elections have taken place, with Councillor Esther Amina Sagawa emerging as the winner in the Lilongwe City Chipala-Nafisi constituency.

Sagawa, who is also the Mayor of Lilongwe City Council, won against three opponents, including MCP National Director of Political Affairs Hon. Maxwell Thyolera.

According to unofficial results, Sagawa secured the most votes, making her the MCP candidate for the constituency in the upcoming general elections.

In a related development, reports indicate that an advisor to President Lazarus Chakwera has lost primary elections in Dedza.

Meanwhile, MCP primary elections have also taken place in other constituencies, with various candidates emerging as winners.

The MCP primary elections are part of the party’s preparations for the upcoming general elections.
