BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has issued a statement to inform the public that a message circulating on social media claiming that MEC Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja has resigned is completely false.
According to letter that MaraviPost has seen it says the Commission categorically states that the Chairperson remains fully committed to her role and continues to discharge her duties in line with her constitutional mandate.
The MEC urges members of the public and electoral stakeholders to disregard the false information and to verify any election-related news through official channels, including the Commission’s website, press statements, and verified social media accounts.
The Commission emphasizes the importance of accuracy in reporting and sharing information, especially during this critical period of electoral preparations.
The dissemination of fake news can mislead the public and undermine confidence in the electoral process and democratic institutions.
The MEC encourages the public to rely on credible sources of information and to be cautious of misinformation that may compromise the integrity of the electoral process.
