LONDON-(MaraviPost)-The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has lost in her lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday’s publisher, in the first stage.

Mail on Sunday is a Sunday Newspaper published by Associated Newspapers in the United Kingdom.

The Newspaper company had published parts of Meghan’s hand written letter to her father in five articles, one of which sought to reveal the rift between the duchess and her father.

Thomas Markle, the duchess’ father has been alienated to his daughter.

They have not spoken since May 2018, even before the royal wedding (the Insider). Thomas did not even attend Meghan’s wedding.

Meghan wrote him a letter after the wedding, the letter whose contents finally breached to the press.

She then filed a lawsuit, accusing the Associated Newspaper for several claims including misuse of private information, breach of data protection and copyright infringement as reported by the Guardian.

However the case has not picked up momentum well, as the judge, Justice Warby struck out parts of her claims. This means that the parts of the case ‘struck out’ were stopped from proceeding but could still be revived afterwards.

The judge said that some of the allegations were irrelevant to the purpose which they were pleaded, while the others were not detailed adequately. The struck out parts did not go to the heart of the case as the judge added. He also mentioned that he confined the case to what is necessary and reasonably proportionate.

If the duchess wins the case, the proceeds from damages awarded would be donated to an anti-bullying charity as she had mentioned earlier on.
