Nigerian-British COVID-19 patient Susan Idoko-Okpe

ABUJA-(MaraviPost)-A lawyers to one 58-year-old Nigerian-British COVID-19 patient has asked the Minister of Health to immediately release his client from isolation centre after the hospital allegedly falsified her Covid-19 test results.

According to the said lawyer, one Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), his client Mrs Susan Idoko-Okpe was designated the index case of COVID-19 in Benue State in a radio broadcast by the Governor of Benue State before she saw the test results.

Report by Punch News revealed that Susan Idoko-Okpe arrived in Nigeria from the United Kingdom on March 22 through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos for her mother’s funeral.

On March 24, Idoko-Okpe developed some headache and fatigue and she was taken to Grace Cottage Hospital, in Makurdi, Benue State. Per standard procedure for people coming from countries with high prevalence of COVID-19 like UK, Idoko-Okpe was subjected to Covid-19 test on 25 March and she was asked to remain in the hospital until her test results were ready.

She was verbally informed about her positive test results for COVID-19 on March 27, 2020 but she was not given the original documents confirming her results.

However, in the radio interview the COVID-19 patient identified as a 62-year-old Susan Idoko-Okpe and the test was conducted on February 29 while her test was carried out on 25 March, 2020.

Following the incident, her lawyer has asked the minister of health to release her as she has no symptoms of COVID-19 or any other illness and does not have Covid-19.
