LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-National Registration Bureau (NRB) is being accused of tricking Southerners in the processing of national Identity Cards.
This has been noted following the bureau’s failure to show up in some areas in the southern region as it was supposed to commence the exercise on July 24, 2023.
Member of Parliament (MP) for Machinga East, Esther Jolobala noted that it is very sad that NRB failed to show up in her constituency after mobilizing the community.
Jolobala said the bureau did not communicate anything about why they failed to come to her constituency.
Concurring with Jolobala, Machinga Likwenu legislator, Bright Msaka said it is sad that the government is failing to intercity the exercise.
He added that it is worrisome that relevant authorities had to announce the postponement of the exercise after he asked the question regarding the issue in the August house.
But in his response, minister of homeland security, Dr Ken Zikhale Ng’oma said the delay has come up as they were waiting to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) and National Registration Bureau (NRB).
The exercise was supposed to commence on 24 July to August 19, 2023.
