LILONGWE (Maravi Post)—Nyasa Big Bullets on Saturday lifted the Malawi presidential cup after beating Moyale Barracks 4-3 in a dramatic post match penalties in a game which was played before a mammoth crowd at Civo Stadium in Malawi’s capital Lilongwe.
The Kaning’ina based soldiers, Moyale Barracks, have themselves to blame after they gave up a one nil lead in injury time—93rd minute. Moyale opened the score sheet in the 36th minute of the first half through their striker Wiseman Kamanga.
The people’s team as Bullets is fondly called thanked heaven when they won a penalty in an injury time –93rd minute, which saw Chiukepo Msowoya scoring to revive the hopes of the Blantyre based soccer power house to still stand a chance of lifting the Cup.
The game went straight into penalties. Moyale managed to score only 3 spot kicks from a possible 5 while Bullets converted 4 spot kicks thereby being crowned the struggling champions of the 2016 presidential cup.
Team manager for Nyasa Big Bullets FC Rahim Ishmael thanked God for the sensational victory while a dejected Moyale Barracks official said it was not their time to win the trophy after dishing out their best to claim victory.
