LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Former Malawi president who is also opposition leader Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Peter Mutharika is not happy with the arrest of his step-son Tadikira Mafudza over Mzimba mass grave.
Mutharika says is looking at the circumstances of the case and the conduct of state agencies seized of the matter saying the arrest is not justified and lacks facts.
In a statement signed by DPP Publicist Shadrek Namalomba states that Mutharika and his family
are in deep shock over their son arrest.
Namalomba said it is on record that the driver of the van in question clearly stated that Tadikira did not have any knowledge that the vehicle in issue was used to carry out illicit activities.
He however said despite the state being aware of his innocence, proceeded to charge him with murder and aggravated human trafficking.
DPP publicist added that Tadikira is a law abiding young man, God fearing and always with an endless smile.
He said DPP leader and his wife are believers of the rule of law as they believe that Supreme Law and Constitution guarantees the right to life for every person.
Namalomba added further that is also guarantees the right to be presumed innocent to any charge until proven guilty by a competent court of law.
DPP publicist said the Muthalika family expect the police and the judiciary to perform their duties with professionalism, objectivity and fairness and resist any extraneous influences.
Tadikira along side four suspected have been charged for human trafficking, murder in connection with Mzimba mass grave of 28 dead bodies of foreign nationals.
