Peter Mutharika upbeat after Meeting with World Bank representatives

President Prof Peter Mutharika and Finance Minister honourable Goodall Gondwe held consultations with World Bank team led by the bank’s Country Director for Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe Kundhavi Kadiresan.

Coming out of the meeting the President said he was encouraged to note during the meeting that the World Bank is noticing the efforts of his government to strengthen the public reform program and restoring the donor confidence in the public finance management systems. He was very upbeat.

 

President Prof Peter Mutharika still upbeat said In addition, He and the Finance Minister Gondwe discussed the priority areas the that the World Bank would like to support the Malawi Government for the next three years.

He also revealed that the bank has through the already existing programmes, managed to mobilize $600 thousand from World Bank funded programmes in the country to assist flood victims in the country.
