Blantyre, Malawi, January 6 (MaraviPost) _ Inspector General of the Malawi Police Paul Kanyama has resigned, barely three months after being appointed by President Peter Mutharika.

Kanyama announced his resignation at a new conference he addressed at the Malawi Headquarters in Lilongwe Friday morning.

Kanyama was appointed Inspector General of Police last November following the resignation of his predecessor Loti Dzonzi.

Kanyama told journalists that he has resigned on health grounds, claiming that work pressure was worsening his diabetes problem.

He announced his resignation as Parliament started discussing his confirmation Friday morning.
