Petroleum Importers Limited donates MK2.5m medical equipment to Malawi’s Kamboni Health Centre in Kasungu

KASUNGU-(Maravi Post)—Quality health services delivery at Kamboni Health Centre in central district of Kasungu is expected to improve following the medical equipment donation made by Petroleum Importation Limited (PIL). The medical equipment donation worthy MK2.5million includes digital blood pressure machines (two), digital thermometers (five), mattress (six), oxygen concentrator, wheel chair, standard hospital bed, scale, salbutamol nebulizer and ultrasound gel.Speaking with The Maravi Post after handing over the medical equipment on Monday, Elwell Kadango, PIL’s General Manager said the company was touched with the pathetic situation at the health facility saying it lacked basic medical operation for smooth operation.

Kadango said the few medical items donated will improve quality health service delivery in the community. He therefore described his company as a transparent and socially responsible private company whose overall aim is to transform Malawian lives at all levels through a steady supply of fuel in the country.

“It’s PIL obligation to partner with government in areas that have a direct impact on the people of Malawi while complimenting its effort in meeting targets on health and safe motherhood under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“At PIL, corporate social responsibility is about how we manage our business process in a socially and environmentally responsible way in order to produce a positive impact to the society. Therefore, we are appealing to other corporate world to support communities which are dire need of social needs,” said Kadango.

After receiving the donation, Kasungu District Health Officer (DHO), Dr. George Talama lauded PIL for the timely donations saying it will ease the transportation costs the health facility was spending when referring patients to the district hospital.

Dr. Talama assured PIL that the medical equipment will be taken care of and put into good use by serving the communities dearly.

Petroleum Importers Limited is private company tasked with fuel importation in Malawi which has been importing bulk of fuel for the country since 1999. It is wholly owned by the following oil Marketing companies; Puma Malawi, Total Malawi, Petroda Malawi and Engen Malawi Ltd.
