Suspected thieves

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Police at Lingadzi Police station in Lilongwe are keeping in their custody six suspects over a series of robberies in Lilongwe between July to September 2022.

The six were arrested on Monday October 3, 2022.

According Lingadzi Police Station spokesperson, Salome Zgambo, the six, in August this year, allegedly broke into a house of McDonald Kanayama Phiri in Area 47 and went away with various items including a shotgun rifle.

Zgambo said It is believed that using the same rifle, the gang has been terrorizing Areas 14, 15 and 47 where numerous items were also stolen.

He said, following the arrest of the six they have managed to recover the rifle and other items like laptops, desktop computers, monitors, mattresses and other household items.

Zgambo added that the recovered items are valued at around K5 million.

The six are Limbani Dickson, Dickson Maliki, Gift Steven, Wilson Nalia, Tannex Mtalimanja and Paul Robert.

Meanwhile, Lingadzi Police is appealing to those who lodged a complaint at the station to go and identify their property.
