As the hostage crisis in Gaza continues, experts warn that US President-elect Donald Trump must navigate the situation with caution.

Trump’s recent threat to unleash “hell” on Hamas if they don’t release the Israeli hostages has sparked concerns that such an approach may only exacerbate the situation.

Hamas, deemed a terrorist organization by several countries, has a history of using extreme tactics, including suicide bombings.

This has led some to fear that using threats to force their hand may push them to harm the hostages.

“Hamas is a terrorist group that can’t lose anything,” said one expert. “They can blow the hostages up and kill themselves, and the losers will be Israel.”

The current situation is dire, with 101 hostages still being held in Gaza. At least a third of these hostages are believed to be dead.

The psychological toll on the remaining hostages is immense, as they remain unaware of their fate or when they might be released.

In light of this, many argue that the best course of action is to abide by the agreement signed by both sides.

This approach prioritizes diplomacy and negotiation, rather than threats and aggression.

Hamas has responded to Trump’s threat, shifting blame onto Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for allegedly sabotaging efforts to secure the release of the hostages.

Basem Naim, a senior Hamas official, claimed that Netanyahu has undercut several potential ceasefire deals.

Despite this, Israeli leaders have welcomed Trump’s threat.

Netanyahu stated that Hamas needs to release the hostages, emphasizing that Trump’s statement correctly places responsibility on Hamas.

The Hostage and Missing Families Forum, representing family members of the missing and kidnapped individuals, expressed gratitude for Trump’s remarks. “It is now evident to all: the time has come. We must bring them home NOW,” they said.

As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how Trump will navigate the complex web of diplomacy and negotiation. One thing is clear, however: a careful and measured approach is necessary to ensure the safe release of the hostages and to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
