LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-After Chitipa United booked their place into the FDH Bank cup Pachema quarterfinals on Friday at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe following their victory over Kawinga FC.

While other two non- superleague teams Extreme FC and Changalume Barracks also did the same on Saturday.

Extreme FC who plays in Chipiku Stores Premier Division League in the Central Region defeated Kadona Stars FC from Nkhatabay, Northern part of Malawi in a game which was played at Bingu national stadium.

Mavwere based side won 1-0 courtesy of Beston Jimu’s well taken free kick at 26th minute in the first half.

Kadona Stars started the match on a high note than Extreme FC, until 15th minute but the host Extreme FC re-organised themselves so quick and begun launching dangerous attacks on the visitors.

At 26th minute Chifundo George who was later voted man of match was fouled by Robert Luhanga few meters from 18 yard box and Beston Jimu full of Super League experience made no mistake than curving it into the top corner.

After this goal, Extreme stabilized and started controlling the game for a better part. Kadona, however, regretted the chances they misused in the early minutes of the game.

Shaibu Cassim, the man in-Charge of the game, blew the whistle signalling for recess, at this time both teams had not yet made substitution,at the same time no player was booked.

Second half started with both teams igniting fire, launching dangerous attacks but their efforts to get goals were proved futile.

Masina, Extreme FC coach, made changes to make sure they maintain their narrow lead against highly spirited Kadona,former Wimbe United player Justine Honde,Tonny Phiri,Brian Msumatiza replaced the scorer Beston Jimu,Francis Black.

Luke Bruno Milanzie Kadona Stars coach also substituted Lewa Nkosi and Alinafe Banda for Peter Banda and David Mwale as they searched for an equalizer and possibly a winner.

The changes brought impact as both teams increased pace of the game while attacking each other.

Kadona Stars had two great chances in the second half through David Mwale who missed with goalkeeper and defenders of Extreme already beaten at 80th minute with other effort being blocked by the host defense of Gift Juma,Betua Molesi,Aaron Chikuni and Maliki Julius.

Extreme had chances to extend the lead at 84th minute through Lonjezo Kajidula and Brian Msumatiza at 90th minute.

After the game, Shadreck Masina, Extreme FC coach was delighted for making this history of reaching the quarterfinals of FDH Bank cup Pachema while acknowledging their counterparts gave them a good run.He further vowed to prepare well for the quarterfinals saying they are not afraid meeting any team even those from the elite league.

Luke Bruno Milanzie, Kadona Stars coach, accepted the defeat and congratulated their counterparts for the victory.

He said their focus now will be in the SIMSO/INNOBUILD Northern Region League in which they are leading their group.

Milanzie added FDH Bank cup has given them certain experience and feel of other leagues as they have played with teams from Southern Region and Central Region leagues.

Another Premier Division side who have qualified to the quarterfinals is Changalume Barracks FC who pulled another shocking and upsetting results at Karonga Stadium, defeating the host by 2-1,with goals coming from Davie Major a brace at 12th and 34th minute while Mphatso Kamanga scored the lone goal for the Crocodiles of Karonga.

Changalume Barracks FC also knocked out another TNM Superleague side MAFCO FC in the round of 32 at Chitowe Stadium weeks ago.

Extreme FC, Changalume Barracks FC and Chitipa United will be waiting for Nyasa Big Bullets FC, Mighty Wanderers FC, Dedza Dynamos FC,Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve, Blue Eagles FC, Ekwendeni Hammers, Kamuzu Barracks FC, Moyale Barracks FC, Red Lions,Civil Service United who play their games from Sunday 31st July to 7th August next month to complete the quarterfinalist.
