UDF lacked evidence to join presidential election case;-Atupele Muluzi

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) leader Atupele Muluzi on Saturday, March 7, 2020 came out of cocoon telling the nation that the party lacked evidence to be part of concluded Presidential election case.

The young Muluzi confirms also that the May 21, 2019 presidential elections were marred with irregularities.

The Constitutional Court (ConCourt) nullified the case on February 3, 2020 over numerous irregularities ordering fresh elections within 150 days.

The UDF leader was responding to TIMES EXCLUSIVE host Brian Banda as to why he went into hibernation during the entire case.

“As a party we know the elections had numerous regularities but we did not have evidence to join other parties during the trial. UDF was monitoring the entire case,” says Muluzi.

Muluzi disclosed that he was in China for economic studies for Malawi’s interests.

On why the party was into electoral alliance with Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Muluzi said DPP leadership has democratic values of political tolerance.
