US raises concerns over visa abuse by Malawians

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )-The US Embassy in Malawi has expressed concerns over the abuse of US visa conditions by some Malawians.

In an interview with Maravi Post,Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Malawi,Amy Diaz said issues such as overstaying visas, fraudulent asylum claims, and compromised passport integrity have been noted.

She highlighted that some individuals allegedly obtain Malawian passports to exploit the US visa system.

Diaz emphasized the need for Malawian officials to address these issues promptly to maintain the integrity of the visa process.

She warned that continued abuse could impact future opportunities for legitimate applicants

The US Embassy’s concerns come after recent visa denials for several Malawian applicants.
