In a heartwarming display of community support, Roundtable Blantyre 20, Cfao Mobility Malawi, and Blantyre Cycling Crew have joined forces to donate 10 wheelchairs worth K3.7 million to the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital’s (QECH) Orthopaedic Centre.

The donation, which was made on Saturday, aims to address mobility challenges faced by patients at the hospital.

Roundtable Blantyre 20 secretary Mayamiko Kapanda emphasized that the initiative is part of the organization’s effort to give back to the community.

“We hope these wheelchairs will help those in need,” Kapanda said. “Partnering with CFAO Mobility Malawi made this initiative even more impactful.”

QECH senior orthopaedic technician Alex Jambo expressed gratitude to the donating organizations, highlighting the timing of the donation. “They have come at a time when our resources are stretched,” Jambo said, adding that, “It’s a huge boost for both staff and patients.”

Hospital matron Wezzie Mwafulirwa echoed Jambo’s sentiments and appealed for more support.

“There are many patients that need wheelchairs,” Mwafulirwa said, adding that,”This gesture shows that we are not only alone, but will also bring real change to many families. We hope this is the beginning of a lasting partnership.”
