Zambian legislator Miles Sampa asks government to send youths to Ukraine for peace keeping

LUSAKA-(MaraviPost)-Zambian Member of Parliament (MP) Miles Sampa on Friday afternoon, February 25, 2022 requested the Zambian Government to send youths to fight in Ukraine.

The Matero lawmaker said it was imperative for the Zambian government to state its position if it was supporting Ukraine or Russia.

He was making the the remarks during the questioning session of the Vice President of the Republic of Zambia Mutale Nalumango.

In her response, Nalumango asked Sampa if he was sure about sending youths to either Ukraine or Russia for peace keeping.

“Hon Miles Sampa, my son. Are you sure? You want us to send our youths to either Russia or Ukraine! Honestly it is unfair to think of youths as tools of war”, responded Nalumango.

The Vice President said no youth will be sent to fight in Russia-Ukraine war stressing that the Zambian government is concerned with what is happening because of the Zambians based in Ukraine.

She said, Zambia will not make a position as an individual country but as a grouping to various bodies that the country belongs to.

Tension has broken out in Ukraine following the invasion of that country by Russia.

On Thursday February 24,2022, the Zambian overnment made an announcement that it is monitoring the situation in Ukraine and that it has begun the process to facilitate the evacuation of its people in that country mainly students who are known.
