LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Parachute Battalion soldiers have sent a strong warning to the Central Region Chipiku Premier league teams who are competing for the championship and promotion in the Malawi’s elite league as they scored four goals past 2023 TNM Super league relegated side Extreme FC on Saturday in Mchinji.
The Flying lions flew all the way from Salima which is their base to the Western boarder of Malawi for the battle of maximum points. The team’s intention of winning the first match of group of 12 teams was noted at early stage of the match as they pressed the home team at the Mchinji Min Stadium.
Airborne started it all in the 16th minute into the game through Chisomo Wame but Extreme pulled level in the 20th minute through Levison Gopani and the goal sent the home fans into rapture as they were given all hopes that their side would collect maximum points over the fierce lions. Little did they know that in the second half there will be a massacre.
Second half had a balanced affair as both teams were able to attack and launch some attacks with aggression however the home team lacked composure and the soldiers used tactics and field craft to overcome the civilians.
Chifundo Molosoni restored soldiers lead in 67th minute after a beautiful monkey run into Extreme half by Airborne.
In the 69th minute Joseph Banda stretched Lions lead and as the match approached it’s end, Chifundo Molosoni scored his second goal to make it 1-4 and soon the match ended.
In a post match interview, Airborne Rangers head coach Kenan Emmanuel Chiumia was excited with the result
“I am happy with the result today, the boys put much energy and played according to the instructions. We just need to motivate and encourage the players to remain focused in future games as we don’t want to lose points unnecessarily. What is needed is coordination but we will work hard to return in the Super league”, Chiumia explained.
The win means the Salima based soldiers have taken an early lead on the 12- teams log table.
Airborne Rangers were relegated in the TNM Super league in 2015 since then they have been landlords in the Central Region Football Association (CRFA) Chipiku Premier division league.
In another opening encounter played at Mbabvi ground in Lilongwe, Mitundu Baptist humbled the area 49 based side, Panthers FC by 1-0 margin courtesy of Alfred Kaipa’s goal in the 45th minute of the first half.
The entertainment in the MK19.8 Chipiku Premier division league continues on Sunday, September 29 as Blue Eagles FC travels to Aubrey Dimba in Mchinji to play resilient side, Villa FC whereas Mchinji min stadium host another fascinating fixture involving the 2023 runners- up Namitete Zitha and Ekas Freight Wanderers FC.
