Villa Beaten in Chipiku League

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-It was a bad week for the only two teams which are representing Mchinji district in Chipiku Premier division league Extreme and Villa FC.

Both teams have been taught bitter football lessons by Malawi Defence Force sides Airborne Rangers FC and Support Battalion FC.

Villa FC and Extreme FC, who are giving hopes to sports fraternity in Mchinji that may be promoted in the elite league this season, suffered 0-3 and 1-2 defeats at home Mchinji community ground and Waliranji respectively.

Francis Gunde and Lumbani Mkandawire a brace for Support Battalion FC was enough to extremely defeat Extreme FC who reached the semifinals of the FDH Bank Cup of 2022 at home Waliranji Secondary School ground in the area of Traditional Authority Mavwere on Saturday.

On Sunday,Villa FC failed to avenge the damage Soldiers caused to their cousins in Waliranji but rather beaten by the Parachute Battalion the Flying Soldiers 1-2 in view of thousands of the fans who covered Mchinji Community ground.

The defeats to the two sides have reduced the chances of them being the champions of 2022 Chipiku Stores Premier Division League.

The duo therefore have to win the remaining games in their respective groups A and B to qualify to the final round of the league.

Villa FC were also humbled by Wimbe United FC 0-1 away in Kasungu while Extreme FC defeated Ngwanje FC 1-2 away in Ntchisi in the second week of the second round.

Mchinji District is yet to produce a Superleague team despite having many people who are passionate of the sport.Mchinji Boma Strikers FC by then known as Robson United came closer to the promised land but finished on third in 2004-2005 season.

Extreme FC has been eye marked by many Mchinji Sports fraternity that they can be promoted into TNM Super League with it’s classy and stylish type of play but ended us runners up to Dedza Dynamos FC in 2021 season.

This year Villa FC from Mlonyeni joined the league with full force to give confidence to their fans about the championship but dreams are slowly being shuttered.

Third week of the MK15.5 million Chipiku Stores Premier Division League has produced 16 goals with two games ending in draws,Mbabvi United FC 2-2 Wimbe United FC, Kamuzu Barracks RSV 1-1 Kawinga FC.

The three weeks of the second round has produced 24 goals from 12 games.

Top three teams from group A which consists of:St Gabriel Medicals FC, Silver Strikers RSV, Villa FC, Airborne Rangers FC, Wimbe United FC and Mbabvi United FC and those from group B;LUANAR FC,Extreme,Support Battalion FC, Kamuzu Barracks FC, Ngwanje FC and Kawinga FC will make it into the final round of the league.

The six teams will be anticipated to play each other home and away.

The team that will collect more points than the other will be crowned champion and get elite league slot.

The marriage between Central Region Football Association and their Sponsors Chipiku Stores has been growing stronger year in year out as have now reached almost 16 years together.

They started sponsoring the league with MK2.5 million.
