LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-As we read in the scriptures about the Galatians who started well and ended badly, this is slowly happening and translated in Villa FC and Airborne Rangers FC in the Central Region’s Chipiku league.

The two teams who are in Group A in the second round of the league are occupying positions 5 and 6 in the 6 teams log table and they have a game to finish the first set of games in round two.

The Mchinji based side Villa FC seems to have given sports fraternity in the district some false hopes of qualifying to TNM Superleague in their maiden year.

As the duo are winless in four games, they have played contrary to what they showcased in the first round as they finished on position two to Airborne Rangers FC.

The Flying Lions Airborne Rangers FC which had amazing round one winning 10 games without a loss, their Parachutes seem to have developed faults from the last two games in round one as they lost to relegated Green Rangers FC.

In the second round the Soldiers have managed to win once and drew once, they have 4 points from 4 games losing 2.The Flying Lions have this game this weekend against St Gabriel Medicals FC who are topping the group at Airborne ground.

A win will see them ascending to position 4 if Mbabvi United FC loses to Villa FC in Mchinji on Saturday.

However, the two teams can not be ruled out yet as they have other 5 games to play in the last set of the second round.

Though it may seem too late too little as other teams in the group are also clinging to the winning ways hence we can’t rule out the proverb that states that “early bird catches worms”.

Teams like Silver Strikers RSV FC, Wimbe United FC and Mbabvi United FC who struggled in the beginning of the first round are occupying positions 2,3 and 4 with 9,8 and 5 points respectively in the group.

The 2021 runners up Extreme FC are still on the summit of group B with 9 points from 4 games, they travel to Nsaru to battle it out with in form LUANAR FC who sits on position two in the group with 8 points from same number of games.

Support Battalion FC and Kawinga FC both have 5 points from 4 games,Support are on position 3 with good goal difference.

Ngwanje FC and Kamuzu Barracks Reserve FC occupy positions 5 and 6 respectively after finishing their games with 5 points each.

Support Battalion FC host Kawinga FC this coming Saturday at Support ground while Airborne Rangers FC host St Gabriel Medicals FC at Airborne ground on Sunday.

After the final set of the second round games, the top three teams in the two groups will qualify to the final round where the champion will be determined according to the points they will accumulate.

The Champion will automatically qualify into Malawi’s top league.

2022 Chipiku Premier division league is anticipated to complete before month end of December.
