What is happening in this country is the opposite of what we wanted.
When Malawians voted for a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to come back to power; it was not because DPP gurus are the only ones gifted in running the affairs of this country but, We, Malawians yearn for progress and we decided to give them (DPP) the benefit of doubt following late Bingu Wa Mutharika’s impressive first term performance.
Oh God, we thank you for you literally helped us get relief when they thought they would rule this country with impunity few years ago. This is why I am coming back to You this time around. I admit that our judgment was poor; these guys never deserved this chance.
We recall that when you cleaned up that mess for us; Joyce Banda came with goodwill from both home and abroad and she managed to undo the evil things DPP subjected us to only that she was shortsighted and Malawians, who always yearn for prosperity wanted someone who could set a national agenda and work on bringing real development in the country and not the petty developments distributing cows as we saw with Banda.
We wanted a sophisticated leader and not a clueless leader.
This is why we reluctantly turned to the same DPP. Our expectation was that we would move in the right direction despite the fact that they betrayed us at some time. We forgave them and gave them the second chance.
You see O Lord, some wise Malawians tried to enlighten us while citing known cases that the then DPP candidate Peter Mutharika was a total failure when it comes to leadership!
Cases such as his failure to handle the University of Malawi academic freedom saga where he literally did nothing to resolve the situation when he was Minister of Education were cited to pump sense into our brains.
We are sorry, we did not listen! We voted with our eyes closed.
We heard with our own ears how tribalistic Peter Mutharika is when he was recorded by a MIJ FM reporter, gossiping that former speaker Henry Chimunthu Banda cannot be president of Malawi because he is a Tonga by tribe!
We didn’t take his gossip seriously until today when we are all crying foul of his blatant and stinking tribalism.
We know how a British envoy was chased when he was declared persona non grata by his brother and at that time, he was minister of Foreign affairs and chief advisor to his brother. He failed to confront him and persuade him not to make that unfortunate decision. We all suffered as a result.
Once beaten, twice shy, so goes a local adage but we chose to ignore the wisdom in this saying.
We still believed that Peter Mutharika was politically targeted to fail by the opposition forces and we wanted to give him the chance to manage the country.
Here we are now; APM is the President and now all those who said Mutharika is a clear case of a failure in as far as national leadership is concerned are now vindicated.
Oh God, now you see how we are struggling as a country! I do not hold patience especially when poor leadership in a country starts affecting our students, I mean the University students!
Our University kids are the future of this country! They represent the hope for this country! We need to jealously defend their interests but what is happening now is a total mess!
Mzuzu University administrators, with impunity, suspended over 900 students because the students wanted management to pay them their full amount of food allowance. The cost of living is increasing each passing day and government has not increased this money; what is wrong for the students to demand administrators to give them their full amount of food allowance.
This is not what we wanted, O God! We are sorry, we voted with our eyes closed.
And to make matters worse; these students attempted to seek court relief because obviously, the management’s decision was unlawful and misguided, only to be told that the courts are on strike and there is nothing the judge can do to give them court relief!
All this is pointing to Mutharika’s incompetency.
As I write, the students are back home now! Those from Ngerenge back to Karonga; Those from Mazengera back to Nkhoma—Lilongwe and those from Molele back to Thyolo.
O Lord, this is actually the opposite of what we wanted!
And perhaps one can be tempted to argue that the Luwinga students and their Chirunga counterparts in Zomba are troublesome by nature. So what can we say about the disciplined college of Medicine students, who run amok this week, burning tyres on the road and in running battles with the police protesting over the same food allowance issue.
As I am finishing making this entry, latest update from College of Medicine indicate that the Police have invaded the College, beating students who are still looming around, enforcing the management unpopular, insensitive, illegal, baseless and misguided decision of sending parking home all the Blantyre campus students.
Oh God, are all these students insane/trouble-makers and Peter Mutharika and his cohorts wise and intelligent?
O God, are all these students not justifiable!
This is why I say we never wanted this! Please help us clean up this mess! We are sorry, we did not listen! We voted with our eyes closed.
These students Peter Mutharika is chasing are those we depend on as parents and as a nation and we can’t afford to see their future being tampered willy-nilly like he is doing.
The Kwacha inflation has made prices of goods to go up and the everyone is suffering in this country and why can’t government easily understand this and address the student’s demands?
It must be mentioned that most of these students come from poor family backgrounds that even their families can hardly top up this accommodation money. They solely depend on this government money.
When all this is happening, we expected him as a Chancellor to intervene but he is silent, dead silent. Look, he used to attack Joyce Banda that she was too mobile promising that once we vote him into power, he will always be locked up in office, thinking and strategizing on how to solve the myriad problems we are facing as a nation, but look, he is not coming in the public to talk about this. We should be afraid, very afraid because there is nothing the old Peter Mutharika does in the office except to doze and eventually sleep while Malawians think he is doing something in the office.
O Lord, Help us clean up this mess! We are sorry, we did not listen! We voted with our eyes closed.
Donors deserted his late brother and the whole nation suffered and you intervened! We humbly ask you to intervene as well this time around.
Donors came during Joyce Banda’s time, things were okay; why is it that the same donors are not happy with Mutharika, after all, Peter Mutharika was not involved in cashgate? Maybe we understand that the donors pretty well know how DPP also secretly conducted its cashgate and they can’t just trust them!
We are now beginning to come to our senses that had it been that we voted for a neutral person with no Cashgate traits; maybe we would be moving forward as a nation!
This is why I humbly ask you the creator of heaven and earth to intervene for the sake of these students, for the sake of this nation.
Tinavota mofoila ndithu!
Oh Lord, take him, wherever you might wish to take him to, so long as this country is saved from distraction. Thus okay with majority of us suffering! Before I go, O Lord, also deal with the cashgators! We are in this situation because of them! They are selfish individuals and I wonder why you trusted them to run the affairs of this country! Perhaps thus why you took the throne away from them!
Again, I wonder why you endorsed this DPP government to bounce back; they are as well crooks and they have no moral mandate to run the affairs of this country. They are thieves, they are liars and they are selfish as well.
Are they not the same people who relied to the nation that Bingu was still alive when he had already died and his ribs broken when they forced Kamuzu Central Hospital doctors to bring back life into the dead Bingu’s body.
Are they not the same people who have deceived the nation that they have given unsolicited Joyce Banda-Lutepo CCTV footage to ACB simply to divert the attention of the nation from discussing real issues when in fact state house CCTV stopped functioning during Bingu’s time.
If you think these crooks we voted into power speak the truth, why can’t they show us first the death of Bingu’s CCTV footage for he died of cardiac arrest while having a meeting at state house with the charming Mrs Penemulungu. Give us that footage first and perhaps we can believe what you say but in as far as I know; DPP is just a bunch of celebrated crooks and I still wonder why they come back into power.
And just yesterday, the whole nation has learnt that Mutharika has hiked his salary by 80% and Minister of finance Goodal Gondwe is trying to play an angel saying that he cannot hike the salaries of the striking judiciary staff claiming government has no money.
And sensing real chaos, Gondwe has clarified that Mutharika will only take the 80% salary increment on condition that the economic environment has improved.
This is what I call obscene, insensitive, hypocritical and ridiculous. Oh God, these are not the people we can trust. Please intervene for the sake of the future of this nation.
I therefore encourage the judiciary striking officers to continue what they are doing until their salaries are hiked. Asamatipusitse ngati ana a m’nyumba mwawo!
Oh Lord, the one you know the matters of someone’s heart; you know that I am making this petition to you in good faith.
Tinasankha Molakwika. Tipatseni Davite chonde Mulungu, Saulo satithandiza uyu!
I humbly ask you, in the name of Jesus Christ, to act upon this petition. And Lets ALL shout a Louder Amen!
ADDENDUM
Have hope Malawians, Peter Mutharika is a one term President, Chakwera will take over says Malawi Prophet Austin Liabunya
My fellow Malawians, in desperate times like these, we need to be hopeful and as we all know, our hope comes from heaven. God always intervene for us.
Recently, the man of God, Prophet Austin Liabunya, who is popular for making national prophecies, did prophesy that Peter Mutharika is but a one term president and that Lazarus Chakwera of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) will miraculously going to emerge the winner of the next elections.
Liabunya is that man of God who prophesied that Mutharika would win the 20th May chaotic elections which he did.
He is the same man of God who has said that time is fast running up for Mutharika as he has been weighed and found lacking to continue being president of Malawi.
Liabunya even said that Chakwera might even be president of this country even before 2019 elections if Mutharika is to remain arrogant and self-centered, the way he is conducting himself now.
So all students and all of us suffering, let’s have hope; God is in control; He will clean up this mess for us soon or later. Let’s continue making our genuine petitions to HIM, the creator of heaven and earth and he will hear and respond to our prayers. Amen!
