BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )-The Centre for Social Concern (CfSC) has urged the Local Advisory Committee (LAC) in Mangochi to intensify peace-building efforts to maintain the district’s peaceful environment as the country prepares for the September 16, 2025, General Elections.
Speaking during a meeting with LAC members on Friday, CfSC Programme Officer Tobias Jere emphasized the importance of promoting peaceful coexistence among the district’s diverse population.
Jere noted that Mangochi has a history of volatility during elections, making it crucial for LAC to play a proactive role in ensuring peace and stability.
In response, LAC Secretary Father Ted Chigamba pledged the committee’s commitment to fostering dialogue and conflict management to promote peaceful coexistence.
The CfSC is implementing a peace-building project in Mangochi, funded by the Embassy of Ireland, aimed at increasing tolerance, mutual respect, and understanding among ethno-religious and political groups.
