CFT Mtambo drumming up Tonse Alliance support in Mzuzu

By Francisco Mwanza

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Leader for Citizens For Transformation movement (CFT) Timothy Mtambo says Malawi needs a leader who is energetic enough to run the affairs of the country.

Mtambo was speaking during a whistle stop tour in Mzuzu city on Saturday, May 30, 2020.

Mtambo revealed that he stopped what ever he was doing and chose to support Chakwera because he is the only rightful candidate for the presidential polls in the country.

“The country deliberately came up with a retirement age knowing that every job has got its age limit. But Muthalika still wants to rule this country while he is already over 80. How can he be a commander in chief for the army or police for the country? Malawi needs a leader who is active enough,” said Mtambo.

While condemning act of violence which is becoming rampant in the country the CFC leader edged fellow politicians to practice issue based politics which can unite Malawians during this campaign period.

In just a space of two days act of violence has erupted in the country, firstly being in Phalombe on Friday where UTM convoy was attacked and the other one on Saturday where angry people denied Atupele Muluzi to hold a rally at Mponera.

It is still not very clear on the exact date when the election will take place as the country awaits for the parliamentary siting to decide on the date.

The polls follows the constitutional court ruling that nullified the presidential elections before the supreme court upheld the order.

Three parties, namely, Tonse alliance led by Lazarus Chakwera,DPP-UDF alliance led by Peter Mutharika and Mbakuwaku Movement for Development by Peter Kuwani will tussle for the highest position.
