Chakwera promises to complete Ezondweni – Euthini Road

By Rose Cross Mahorya

MZUZU-(MANA)-President Lazarus Chakwera has assured people in Mzimba of continued development in the district citing continuation of Ezondweni-Euthini Road and a rural hospital in the area as his priority areas.

Chakwera made the assurance Wednesday at Euthini Trading Center in the area of Traditional
Authority Chindi, in the district, as the president continues with his campaign trail in the region,
ahead of the September 16 General Election.

“I have seen how bad your roads are, meaning that you have challenges transporting your goods; a contractor has already been identified to continue the road from Ezondweni,” said Chakwera.

The President also noted that the district is too vast, and he further promised to construct a rural hospital in the area because the distance to the district hospital is too long.

The Malawi leader said he is aware that despite Euthini being well known for farming, the past farming season was not as fruitful because most farmers accessed the inputs late.

“Processes are already under way; the inputs will be available before first rains,” he said.

In his remarks, Minister of Trade and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) running mate, Vitumbiko Mumba, said government is putting up initiatives to help Malawians create more employment for themselves and others.

“Furthermore, besides getting loans from National Economic Empowerment Fund, the Ministry of Trade will also provide Loans to Small Medium Enterprises to boost their capitals.

“With available farm inputs and markets already set up through National Food Reserve Agency, hunger will be an issue of the past,” he said.

Representative for Inkosi Chindi appreciated the presidential visit, saying it symbolizes that
Chakwera has people of the area at his heart.
