LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-UTM party has barred President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse Alliance government two cabinet minister to participate in the funeral services for the late Vice President Saulos Chilima accusing them of negligence.
The barred two cabinet ministers including Ken Zikhale Ng’oma and Harry Mkandawire for Homeland Security and Defence respectively.
Addressing the news conference on Thursday, June 13, 2024 in the capital Lilongwe, UTM Regional Governor, Stevie Mikaya said the two cabinet minister are behind Chilima death over negligence as they failed to rescue him in time of need.
Mikaya said, “It is disheartening that the plane crashed at 10am but none of the ministers made a move to rescue the lives of the people involved.
“We believed that if the two cabinet ministers could have made their efforts in time some of the victims could have been rescued”.
He added that Chilima has left the legacy and as the party will announce the way forward after the burial.
The Members of Parliament (MCP) that addressed the news conference including Zomba Changalume’s Bizwick Million, Ntcheu West constituency’s Simeon Salambula, Nkhatabay North constituency’s Chrissie Kanyasho, Blantyre City West constituency’s Stevie Mikaya and Mzimba Holla constituency’s Sam Chirwa.
Chilima is expected to be buried on June 17, 2024 at his home village, Nsipe in Ntcheu district.
