KARONGA-(MaraviPost)-Kamuzu Barracks quest to chase down league leaders Be Forward Wanderers in the title race took a major hit after being held to a 1-1 draw by Savenda Chitipa United in a TNM Super League match played on Saturday.
The result left the 2017 champions still in third with 36 points from 21 matches 7 points off Wanderers who have also 2 games in hand.
While the draw lifted Chitipa up to 11th on the log table with 21 points from 20 matches.
The encounter played at the Karonga Stadium in front of a sizeable crowd saw Khumbo Ng’amba earn a share of the spoils after Ndaona Disi had put the away side into the led at half time.
Despite the two side’s having late chances to snatch all the points they were ultimately forced to share a single point each with KB having another chance on Sunday to earn the win when they take on Karonga United.
Speaking in a post-match interview Kamuzu Barracks coach Billy Pambala, expressed graditude to his players for gaining a point away from home.
“I think looking at the 90 minutes I think a draw was a fair result hence I’m happy with that and with the performances of our players”, he said.
However Chitipa United Team Manager Watson Kabaye, bemoaned the miss opportunity to grab all the three points. Saying that they were the better team on the day and should of collected the maximum points.
“The draw has really frustrated us as we created the better chances and simply should of won but we didn’t and we will swiftly move on to our next match”, he explained.
