LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Reports indicate that Civil Service United has released eleven players for different reasons amongst them being contract expiry and poor performance ahead of the forthcoming football season.

While confirming about the development, the General Secretary for the Servants, Ronald Chiwaula declined to mention the names of the victims as some of them have not yet been served with letters.

But Chiwaula acknowledged the laying off of players saying management acted based on technical panel’s recommendations.

However, though unconfirmed, Maravi Post understands that the eleven players being laid off including goalkeepers Tione Tembo and Charles Swini, Anzeru Joseph, Fletcher Bandawe, Jaffalie Chande, Isaac Msiska, Andrew Banda, Chikondi Maloya, Ibrahim Sadiki and Kelvin Thotho.

“It is true Civil Service United has released eleven players due to different reasons, we have however lobied some to replace the departing ones but again I will reserve mentioning their names until we complete the whole process of signing them”, explains Chiwaula.

Meanwhile Civil Service United has not been given a target by their sponsors in the forthcoming football season apart from putting their much emphasis on football development.

With this approach Ronald Chiwaula the GS said people should expect a changed Civil Service United but they shouldn’t rule them out of winning the silverware.

The 2022 football season in Malawi will be opened on 26th February,2022 and currently most teams in the TNM Super League are busy with the preparations.
